Serena Williams
Serena Williams in my opinion is not only the Greatest Tennis Player of all time (male or female), but she is one of the greatest athletes of all time. Her competitors are not even in the same league when it comes to physical ability and her top rivals are hardly even able to compete against her. I believe the reason she does not get the same respect and fame as other elite athletes is because she is a physically dominating female, and she is not the stereotypical female athlete. Serena Williams is the holder of 16 grand slam titles, 2 more than Tiger Woods, and yet Tiger Woods is not only richer and more famous but more respected. Maria Sharapova has only 4 grand slam titles to Serenas 16 but she is the richest female athlete of all time. Sharapova has a 2-13 record against Serena and has not beaten her since 2004, and yet Sharapova is the one with more endorsements. The reason for this is because Maria Sharapova is seen as more marketable. She is more of a lady. She is seen as beautiful and graceful and therefore even though she is not the best is her sport she is the most beloved. Male and female athletes are judged differently in this aspect. Male athletes can almost do what they want to and they are still loved by the public. Tiger Woods' scandal is now a distant memory, Patrick McEnroes
